In the United States, arthritis is the number one cause of disability.

Arthritis is a word used to describe many conditions that affect joints and tissue.  It means an inflammation of the joint.

 
In 2001, arthritis affected an estimated 69.9 million people in the United States.

40% of adults with an arthritis diagnosis report functional limitations in activities of daily living.

The prevalence of adults with arthritis is higher in women than men.

The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis (OA). OA affects cartilage and bones.

Radiographic findings:

Hand = 7.3

Feet = 2.3

Knee = 0.9

Hip = 1.5

 
Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)  can be found in many joints of the body and is considered a systemic inflammatory disease.  RA is the second most common form of arthritis.
